Around 9:20AM last Friday morning, Southern Californians were awaken by the sound of a sonic BOOM!
Folks from Huntington Beach all the way down to Highland Park said they heard thunder roaring and felt a lot of shaking, rattling, and rolling.
Due to a 6.0 magnitude earthquake and 40 aftershocks hitting the California-Nevada border, just a day earlier, folks were worried that the “Mother of all Earthquakes” had arrive.
The scientists over at the U.S. Geological Survey reassured everyone that it wasn’t the “Mother of all Earthquakes” but a sonic boom.
And they knew it was a sonic boom due to there being high frequency signals occurring during a short time span and the speed of sound being slower than the speed of sound made whenever an earthquake occurs.
Therefore, if that had been the “Mother of all Earthquakes,” then everyone and thing would have been moved around faster than what Thor does whenever he slams his hammer on the ground.
